About This Web Site
This web site was primarily created to provide information about the huge Puketiro wind farm planned to be situated in the Pauatahanui hills of Porirua and Upper Hutt. It also provides information about the impacts and operation of industrial windfarms in general, what the windfarm developers don't want to tell you.
We believe that people will eventually come to realise, as we have done from our research, that current wind technology is ill suited to large scale production of electricity. Realistically the savings in CO2 generation and fossil fuels are much smaller than people are given to believe, largely due to inefficient, standby power sources that must be kept running to cut in when the wind dies.
We believe that people are being misled about the real value of windfarms by those that are poorly informed and by those that have a vested interest in making money from carbon credits and consumer subsidies from a distorted electricity market that forces us to buy wind generated electricity irrespective of the cost.
If the realistic value of windfarms to the nation was properly accounted for then we would be much more careful about where they were constructed and would more diligently seek to avoid siting them in places where they would have adverse impacts on people, flora and fauna, such as the planned Puketiro site and many other sites in the region.
